Outreach

  • The ChemZone is our educational outreach program for K-12 grade students, teachers, and the community at large. Through ChemZone, our faculty, staff and students are involved in outreach activities and creating educational materials that can be used in teaching core concepts of chemistry, physics, biology and engineering. Schedule an in-person (or virtual) visit to your classroom or other event so we can illustrate how chemistry is the foundation for science related to bio- and nanotechnology, energy, and sustainable living. ChemZone also maintains ChemKits - a lending library of free kits for PA teachers to be used in classrooms.

Online Learning

  • David Yaron’s Chemistry Collective develops computer-based environments, such as a flexible virtual lab, that enable college and high school students to work on activities similar to practicing chemists. Ongoing research evaluates the effectiveness of these environments as well as how to build online communities to further develop digital libraries for science education.
