Research Interest
Insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) is structurally related to insulin. Unlike insulin, IGF-I is found in many areas of the body. IGF-I is important in cellular proliferation and interacts with other growth factors. It is known insulin-like growth factor binding proteins (IGFBPs) have “GCGCCXXC” motif, which has binding affinity to IGF-I. The goal in my research is to deduce possible peptides that will yield the best interaction with IGF-I. Mass spectroscopy and NMR will be use to characterize the peptides. Binding affinity will measure the IGF-I—ligand interactions.
