Group Activities
EYF 2005
Two groups of girls from Pittsburgh middle schools came to CMU to learn a little more about engineering. We taught them about metabolic monitoring using BodyMedia armbands and running them through several activities outside.
Armbands get placed around the tricep and measure quantities like heat flux, acceleration, and galvanic skin response (sweatiness). Here’s Stefani making adjustments on one student’s armband.
A quick soccer match. Jessie’s team came ready to play.
The height of the activities was the relay race. Stefani leads the pack in crabwalking as Simon takes off hopping.
Simon—the unstoppable hopping machine.
Lilian discusses the data with her team members.
