Positions

Postdoctoral positions, senior and junior levels

Currently postdoctoral positions are available at all levels based on qualifications. Candidates with Ph.D in physical chemistry, experimental physics/biophysics, life sciences or related disciplines are encouraged to contact Dr. Maumita Mandal or send email at mandal@cmu.edu. To apply, send CV and at least 3 letters of recommendations by email or mail to:

Graduate Students

Prospective students should apply to a graduate program at CMU. Links to information about the graduate programs which are most closely related to the Mandal Group are given below.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Mandal group research is at the intersection of chemistry, physics and biology to develop optical-tweezers and single-molecule manipulation tools to understand how RNAs fold into intricate structures in response to small molecule metabolites, ions and proteins, how do these RNA domains bring together the components to form large functional complex. Research in this field deepens our understanding of mechanisms of RNA dependent gene regulation in cells and is poised to yield dramatic advances in medicine and technology.
Students from Mellon College of Science (MCS) and Carnegie Institute of Technology (CIT) are eligible for honors research.
We invite dedicated undergraduates to join us in our research endeavors. A background that includes physical chemistry or experimental physics and some familiarity with biology is ideal, but all applicants will be considered. Undergraduate participants may be eligible for an hourly salary and/or academic credit.
