Nanoscale-level structure-property studies of macromolecules using proximal probe techniques.

One of the themes in our work is the use of proximal probe techniques to simultaneously characterize the structure and properties of macromolecular objects at the nanoscale. This is well illustrated by our recent studies of mechanical properties of carbon nanotubes (link) and hybrid inorganic-macromolecular particles. In o these studies we use variable-effective force tapping mode AFM as a tool to induce and measure compressive deformation.
