1) Biochemist/Molecular Biologist Research Associate (RA)

Chakrabarti Group at Carnegie Mellon is seeking a highly motivated individual for a three-year multidisciplinary project with hands-on experience in RNA/Nucleic Acids Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. This project is aimed to characterize RNA structure-function in human pathogens. Minimum requirement for this position is a bachelor's degree in Biology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology or related field or equivalent in experience and education. The candidate should have some experience in cell culture and in one or more of the following molecular and biochemical techniques: Northern blotting, RT-PCR, Immunoprecipitation, cross-linking of nucleic acids and proteins, gel-shift assays and enzyme activity assays. *Note: A short-time position (6-8months) is also available to work on a related RNA Biology project.

2) Summer Undergraduate Research Internship

This is a volunteer summer research opportunity for undergraduate students to work on a biomedical research project studying RNA-protein interactions in human pathogens. This opportunity will allow a motivated undergraduate student to gain knowledge in the application of Nucleic Acids biochemistry and molecular biology of human infectious diseases, develop technical skills and bench experience by participating in an existing research investigation in a state-of-the-art science facility and network with mentors and peers within the biomedical research community.
