Graduate Program

M.S. Programs

An M.S. is offered in Colloids, Polymers, and Surfaces in collaboration with the Department of Chemical Engineering. Most courses in this program are scheduled to accommodate the schedules of Pittsburgh area professionals. An M.S. in Biotechnology and Management is also available.

An M.S. in Chemistry and an M.S. in Polymer Science are available only to students who are in the Ph.D. program; we don’t admit students wishing to pursue the M.S. only. While prospective students interested in pursuing an M.S. either full-time or part-time typically do not receive financial support, we welcome applications from students with industrial sponsors or other means of financial support. Details about M.S. requirements are available in the Guide to Graduate Studies. Inquiries about M.S. applications should be directed to Valerie Bridge (vb0g@andrew.cmu.edu).

B.S./M.S. programs are available to Carnegie Mellon undergraduates to complete the B.S. and M.S. typically in 4 years.
