Carnegie Mellon Chemistry has faculty renowned in several areas: organic, materials, polymer, green chemistry, bioorganic, bioinorganic, biophysical, spectroscopy, chemical physics, and computational/theoretical chemistry. Ph.D. students in the department begin research quickly, develop their own original proposals, and gain excellent communication skills to support a successful career.

Find out the steps to apply and fill out the on-line application. Only a few items are needed on paper. Applications are considered for both fall and spring admissions.

In addition to courses in chemistry, students are encouraged to take related to courses in biological sciences, chemical engineering, physics, and computer science.
